I was born in Teramo in the early hours of May 21st, 1981. At the age of 5, just a few weeks before my first day of school, I picked up a guitar for the first time, driven by the desire to emulate my father, also a guitarist, who taught me the first chords.
BIOGRAPHY
My musical education, however, started with the records and cassettes scattered around the house. I vividly remember the covers and labels with names like Bob Dylan, Little Richard, The Beatles, Donovan, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Janis Joplin.
When the number of chords I learned started growing, I decided it was time to delve deeper into guitar and music theory, so at the age of 11, I began taking private lessons from Maestro Franco Pellegrini in Teramo, where I stayed for about four years.
In June 1993, my family and I moved to Montorio al Vomano, about 10 km from Teramo. Here, I was fortunate to meet peers who, like me, wanted to play, and together, we formed my first band: H2O. Along with this group came my first original songs, and about a year later, on June 3, 1994, I had my first performance on a “real” stage.
After the band dissolved, from 1996 onward, I had the opportunity to play with several other groups, including The Boomerang, Gli Anfiteatri, Jellyfish and the Rock and Roll, and The Flaming Clouds.
In 1999, I formed Amentia (www.amentia.it), a pop-rock band, along with Fabio Polisini (former H2O), with whom I stayed until 2007, actively contributing as a songwriter.
In the meantime, in the year 2000, I was invited by Tommaso Paolone to form another band, this time much more rock-blues oriented: The Mufflers. Shortly after, I was invited to join an ambitious soul and rhythm & blues project: The Castle Boys Band.
In 2001, I had the good fortune to visit South America, spending about two months in Venezuela, where I deepened my knowledge of South American music.
In 2003, while studying at the University of L’Aquila, I participated in a student mobility project, moving to Preston, in northern England, for five months. Here, I formed the group The Likes with other English musicians, performing in clubs and pubs across Britain.
Upon returning to Italy, after completing my university studies, I took off again, this time to Dublin, where I stayed for five months. During my time in Ireland, I had the pleasure and fortune of collaborating with various local artists.
Back in Italy in 2006, I approached jazz for the first time, invited by clarinetist Fabrizio Leonetti to form a group that performed jazz classics, which became the Fa Maggiore Jazz Band, active for several years.
In 2008, I participated in the national guitarist competition organized by FBT, where I placed third with my song The Busker Song.
In 2011, shortly after my father’s passing, I was happily involved in the formation of a new band: The Soul Buddies, a soul music band with which I am still active, and for whom I wrote several original songs, including the single “Good Enough,” released on a 45 rpm record in March 2019.
Shortly after the birth of Soul Buddies, on the ashes of Fa Maggiore Jazz Band, came the group Dixie Hogs, with whom I shared an intense live activity until 2019. However, this was not my first experience in this genre, as a few years earlier, I had joined the Seven Sins Dixieland Orchestra as a banjo player.
In March 2019, I won the talent show Italia’s Got Talent alongside pianist Antonio Sorgentone, with whom I have collaborated since the early 2000s, frequently performing live and in the studio.
In November 2019, I released Flashbacks, my first solo album, where I am both a musician and the author and composer of all the tracks.
In addition to my own projects, which have kept me busy over time, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with international artists such as American drummer Rick Latham and Canadian singer Rebecca Noelle.
